Welcome to our newest mission of housing and healing!

The EOF-SV campus, which began on June 1, 2002,  is made up of three large buildings and two smaller units on a six acre site located in Munhall and Homestead, PA.  They are the original 1924 building, the 1959 building, The Willis Center, the Homestead House and a Boiler Plant Building.  The property was donated by the South Hills Health System, now Jefferson Regional Medical Center.  Jefferson Regional did not want to close or board up their old hospital  campus.  They wanted to leave a continued presence in the Community of Homestead, West Homestead and Munhall.  They actively sought out various non-profit groups to take over the campus.  The Eastern Orthodox Foundation was one of 16 prospective recipients.  In November 2001, the Board of Jefferson Regional Medical Center chose EOF as the Recipient of its donation.

Today the Eastern Orthodox Foundation of Steel Valley is under the direction of a 15 member board of directors. David Gesue is the Campus Director and Fund Raiser. At the present time we are dedicated to helping the elderly in this aging community. We operate a 60 bed personal care home called the Homestead in the 1959 building.  There are 40 dedicated staff members at this location. Julie Cousar is the Personal Care Administrator.  Other programs are progressing.

We hope to develop a Wellness Center. At present we have a number of partner tenants who are in the business of helping others.  Jefferson Regional Medical Center operates The Homestead Family medical center which provides physicians and medical care; The Turtle Creek MH/MR operates the Homestead House, a CRR for mental health consumers; The Pittsburgh Vision Services helps those with vision problems and the Mon Valley Unemployment Committee helps those who are unemployed. The Allegheny Intermediate Unit also joined our campus and provide a number of services for children and counseling for single mothers. We hope that this is just the beginning.
